Lukashenka appoints “corridor to Lithuania” general to top administration post
Pavel Muraveika
Deputy head of Lukashenka's administration has become Pavel Muraveika, who until recently served as chief of the General Staff.
Muraveika became known for repeatedly threatening to use tactical nuclear weapons that Russia allegedly supplied to Belarus, while serving as chief of the General Staff.
In 2023, he threatened to "punch a corridor" to Lithuania in response to sanctions imposed by that country. At the time, Muraveika held the position of first deputy state secretary of the Belarusian Security Council.
Lukashenka also appointed a new minister of antimonopoly regulation and trade. The position went to Aliaksandr Yakoŭchyts.
The post of commissioner for religious and ethnic affairs was taken by Aleh Dziachenko.
