Moscow hosted the 14th award ceremony of the "Kamerton" prize named after Anna Politkovskaya.

A special prize inscribed "For saving lives" was awarded to John Coale, the US president's special envoy on Belarus. It recognised his role in the release of Belarusian political prisoners.

Prizes in other categories went to the outlets The Bell and Verstka, as well as musician and founder of the band Aquarium Boris Grebenshchikov (in the category "Spoke for everyone").

"Kamerton" is a prize established in memory of journalist Anna Politkovskaya, who was killed in 2006. This year it was awarded for the 14th time.
